SAISD Committed to Student Safety

This past week Brackenridge and Burbank High School were on the news because some students made threats on social media. The good news is that after SAISD Police, the FBI, and other law enforcement investigated these threats within 24 hours, they determined that all threats were not creditable. Then SAISD sent out calls to all parents that had children that attended these high schools to say that everything had been cleared up and that it was safe for their children to return to the campus. The bottom line is that SAISD has made it clear that all threats will be investigated, so if anyone feels that they are not safe at school, please know that SAISD has an online site to report these issues anonymously. If you need to use this site, go to the SAISD website, and there you will seek K-12th Anonymous Reporting; when you click on that link, it will take you to another website called P3 Campus which will allow anyone to report any threats to the schools. This website also allows students to report bullying issues as well. This year I know that many parents have become overwhelmed with trying to find a way to help their children go to school without the fear of being bullied or caught up in fights. If you are worried about sending your child to school because you feel that their safety is a concern, then call your school to find a way to overcome these issues. This year has become challenging for everyone, including our teachers and staff, but we know that we need to work as a team to help the schools. Please know that SAISD takes all threats very seriously because they want to protect everyone at their schools. Also, I would like to remind everyone that if we approach these issues with violence, it will not help the situation. So, parents, please call or email to set up a meeting at your child’s school before it gets to that point.

Lastly, parents, if your child needs tutoring, then know that SAISD is offering tutor.com 24/7 for free for all their students. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please email at lena.lopez@saobserver.com. Let’s make sure that all of our children, teachers, and staff feel safe every day.
