SAAACAM’s Black History Film Series Presents “The League” Screening

The League is a contemporary documentary that explores the journey of the Negro Baseball League and its profound societal impact. In this film, baseball hall-of-famers Hank Aaron and Monte Irvin share stories of playing the game as kids, often using nothing more than broomsticks. As footage of Black kids playing on a sandlot rolls by, the discussion goes beyond successful men reminiscing about their past hardships to how they overcame those obstacles through resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Pollard’s newest incisive documentary highlights the Negro Leagues, one of the largest Black-owned businesses in America, and is filled with stories of perseverance and adaptation. The film features stars Maya Angelou, Sam Pollard, and Jabari Gray.
