Rookie RB Judkins Charged in Florida

Legal trouble hits Cleveland Browns’ second-round pick Quinshon Judkins just ahead of camp

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge. The arrest occurred after police responded to a delayed battery complaint at a residence. Judkins was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery involving touch or strike.

He was held overnight and later released on a $2,500 bond. A judge ordered Judkins to have no contact with the alleged victim and imposed restrictions on firearm possession. His initial court hearing was held the following day.

The incident comes less than two weeks before Browns rookies are scheduled to report for training camp. Judkins, a second-round pick, was expected to compete for playing time following the departure of veteran running back Nick Chubb.

Judkins had gained national attention during his college career for his powerful running and was projected as a key asset in the Browns’ backfield. However, his arrest raises uncertainty about his immediate future with the team, especially as he has not yet signed his rookie contract.

The Browns acknowledged they are aware of the situation and gathering more information. The NFL has also confirmed awareness of the incident but has yet to comment further.

If convicted, Judkins faces up to one year in jail, probation, and a fine under Florida law. The case casts a shadow over his transition to the NFL and adds another layer of concern for a Browns team preparing for the season.

Judkins’ legal outcome will determine whether he participates in training camp and impacts his standing within the league’s personal conduct policy. The Browns must now weigh their options as the season approaches.
