RENEW YOUR MIND- AN UPLIFTING MESSAGE FOR YOUR SPIRIT

Spiritual Uplift Message: “By the renewing of your mind”

I once heard a quote by a filmmaker, Dallas Jenkins, that articulated a change in his heart, mind and character.  He said it like this, “I was one way, now I am completely different and the thing that happened in between was Him.”  Experiencing a true change, not a pretense for the benefit of self-purpose, that brings about a new life, new thought, new sight, and new direction can only come from experiencing and accepting the Spirit of the living God through His resurrected Son Jesus Christ.   The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:1-3 (KJV), “…. but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.….”  The song writer, Hugh Wilson melodized these words, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost but now I’m found was blind but now I see.”  By the gift of grace are you saved through faith, Hebrew 11:1-14, and not of yourself.  It is a gift received from God.  It is not based on our works or good efforts can we boast or brag; Ephesians 2:8-10.  The deceiver loves to distort the truth in order to blind you from the truth.  But once you are filled with the Spirit of God, his efforts are futile.  You can see what is right and what is false.

The question becomes, how do I receive the Spirit of God for this renewed life, this new sight? John 3:16 tells us that, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Apostle Paul follows up with, Romans 10:8-9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be save.” That seals the deal.

The righteous that can see are set apart from the blind because of the difference in the way they see, 2 Timothy 2:21.  But be aware, with clear vision you will find yourself being the minority.  Do not allow the world to conform you to it, only finding yourself as the deceiver. He is a great influencer.  Stand on your faith in Christ Jesus then you can say as David did in Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd…….”  The bible tells us he was a man after God’s own heart.  He could see clearly to separate truth from fiction, righteousness from sin and not allowing himself to be deceived by leaning to his own understanding, 1Samuel 13:13-14; Proverbs 3:5.  By knowing the truth and seeing clearly, when you fall get up, repent and continue moving towards Christ. David knew all too well about falling.  He would not let himself be beguiled about the difference between righteousness and sin or his ability to raise himself from seeing wrongly. “Create in me a clean heart and a renewed and right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10.
