Regina Hall and Anna Faris Return to Scary Movie Confirmed

Hall and Faris Bring Back Brenda and Cindy

Regina Hall and Anna Faris, fan favorites of the Scary Movie franchise, are officially returning. In a joint statement, the actresses expressed their excitement:

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.),” they said.

The duo first won over audiences with their unforgettable characters in the 2000 original. Their return signals a nostalgic revival for longtime fans.

The Wayans Brothers Reunite After Nearly Two Decades

Marlon Wayans confirmed the revival on Instagram, posting a throwback photo of Hall and Faris from the first film. He wrote, “After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the Scary Movie franchise!”

Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans will co-write the new film alongside Rick Alvarez, with all four producing. The brothers last worked together in 2006, making this their first collaboration in 18 years.

Michael Tiddes to Direct Sixth Film in the Franchise

The revival marks the sixth Scary Movie installment and will be helmed by director Michael Tiddes, who has worked extensively with the Wayans family on films like A Haunted House, Naked, and Sextuplets.

Calling themselves the “fab four,” Marlon confirmed that he and Shawn are crafting an all-new, original script that will breathe fresh life into the series.

A Release Date Fans Won’t Forget

The new Scary Movie is set for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026. The announcement has already generated major buzz among fans who remember the franchise dominating the box office in the early 2000s.

With Hall and Faris returning, and the Wayans brothers back at the creative helm, the project aims to revive the absurd, over-the-top parody comedy that made Scary Movie a cultural phenomenon.
