Ready to Work Training and Employment Program Prepares San Antonians for Career Success
Mike Ramsey is passionate about helping San Antonians improve their quality of life and achieve professional successes. As the City of San Antonio’s Executive Director of Workforce Development, he sees every day how quality job training programs and career coaching can transform lives.
San Antonio’s “Ready to Work” program is an ambitious training and employment program, currently enrolling thousands of San Antonio residents in approved training and education programs aligned with high-demand, well-paid jobs. Hundreds of local employers have pledged to hire participants upon training completion.
San Antonio is investing over $200 million for Ready to Work participants to pursue high school equivalency, certification courses, associate degree courses, or bachelor’s degree courses. Each participant has a personal coach who helps them overcome barriers, select and enroll in courses, update resumes and interview with eager employers.
“In the most vulnerable and marginalized parts of our city, residents experience barriers to economic prosperity such as limited access to jobs and educational resources. Ready to Work is an opportunity to bridge that gap by helping residents prepare for and secure high-paying jobs and rewarding careers,” said District 2 Council Member Jalen McKee-Rodriguez.
“We want to make sure that Eastside residents are aware of the Ready to Work program and its incredible benefits,” said Ramsey. “If you want to learn more about Ready to Work, call 3-1-1 or visit readytoworksa.com.”
