Jordan Peele Reveals His Next Film Could be His “Favorite”
In a recent interview, Jordan Peele revealed some news about his upcoming fourth feature film – though, in classic Peele fashion, he’s keeping the details closely guarded. Jordan Peele fans will have to wait to a bit longer for his next movie.
The Oscar-winner’s fourth film as a director will now debut on Oct. 23, 2026. That’s a significant jump from the original release date of Dec. 25, 2024, which was announced in March 2023, two months before the WGA strike that, along with the SAG-AFTRA strike starting in July, brought production to a standstill for most of the year. The delay led Universal to pull the film from its calendar; Peele announced the new release date over social media.
Ever since the release of his directorial debut, “Get Out,” back in 2017, Jordan Peele has been highly praised and celebrated for his deeply evocative contributions to the film industry. “Get Out” was nominated for several awards and won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2018, and Peele’s most recent film “Nope” performed exceptionally at box offices and received rave reviews. With only three films under his belt, Peele has already established himself as one of the great filmmakers of this generation.
To welcome in the new year, Peele was invited on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast, where he provided some tiny bits of insight regarding his upcoming fourth directorial feature. During the podcast interview,
While this disclosure is certainly minimal and vague, when you’re Jordan Peele you don’t need to say much to garner a magnitude of hype for your new movie. The idea that this film could be Peele’s favorite, among his already highly exalted filmography, is enough alone to instill a level of intrigue capable of having fans of Peele’s work eagerly awaiting this upcoming release. Unfortunately, we might have to wait a while before the film graces the silver screen.
Peele was supposed to have already begun the process of making his fourth directorial feature with Universal Pictures, but production was delayed in the summer of 2023 due to the Hollywood strikes. Prior to the Hollywood labor stoppage, Universal had had two collaborations with Monkeypaw Productions (Peele’s production company) scheduled in 2024. Now, however, both projects hold release dates in 2026.
As of now we don’t know who will be among the cast, and we don’t yet even know what the title will be. All we know is that it could be Jordan Peele’s favorite film he’s ever made, and, yet, that’s enough to spark a surge of anticipation for a film that won’t hit theaters for at least another year.
There’s no telling how much more information we’ll get about Peele’s new movie before its release in 2026, but stay tuned for more updates in the coming months. Leave a comment below if you’re looking forward to Peele’s next film, and if you think that it could be as good as “Get Out.”
