Dallas Wings Rookie Sets Records on Her Way to WNBA’s Top Honor
Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has been named the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year. The Dallas Wings guard became a near-unanimous choice, securing 70 of 72 votes. Only Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron received votes outside of Bueckers.
Record-Setting Numbers
Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals across 36 starts, leading all rookies in scoring and assists. She also set a new rookie record with a 44-point performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 20.
Making History
Her efficiency and consistency placed her in the record books as the first rookie in WNBA history to average at least 15 points and five assists per game while shooting over 45% from the field.
Future of the Wings
Although Dallas faced challenges this season, Bueckers’ debut sets her apart as a cornerstone for the Wings and one of the league’s brightest young stars. Her recognition as Rookie of the Year signals the beginning of a promising WNBA career.
