OUR CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH

Hello SAISD Parents,

This week our SAISD schools welcomed another 10% of their students back into the classrooms. However, the new learning environment is now filled with many safety precautions and social distancing. I know that it’s hard to send your children back to school, so before you make that choice ask if there are any other options. The idea of having a school opened with all these safety protocols is one that will take all of us some time to adjust too. Then, we’re seeing some of our teachers retiring due to this pandemic, and that is understandable. The more significant issue is making sure our children are learning and can make progress through this pandemic.

We also have to think about our children’s mental health because many miss their friends and teachers. So, as we work our way through this pandemic, let’s make sure that our children are not suffering from anxiety or depression. If anyone feels that your child needs counseling, please contact your SAISD Family &Student Support Services at 210-554-2635 to help you find the help you need. I know many of our SAISD families are suffering from the loss of a loved one. So, please, that all of you are in my prayers. Lastly, parents, if you have any issues or concerns, please contact me at lena.lopez@saobserver.com

Have a Blessed Week,

 Lena
