Brother Jerry Cheatom Recipient of the Prestigious “Burke” Award
On April 1st, Brother Jerry Cheatom (’73-Alpha Zeta) the Colonel Robert B. Burke Award at The National Board of the Rocks, Incorporated 2023 Spring Gala. The award is in honor of Colonel Robert “Bobby” B Burke, a “Blue Geese” member of the ROCKS. Burke helped spearhead efforts by working behind the scenes with Roscoe “Rock” C. Cartwright to help seek out new members for what is now known as The ROCKS, Inc. Recipients of this award are military officers, who are members of the ROCKS in good standing. They demonstrate the qualities exhibited by Burke which include loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Brothers in the Community: Brother Jeffery August
On April 27th, the J. L. August Bridge Builders Mentors taught youth at Sam Houston High School and Young Men’s Leadership Academy table etiquette and how to dress for success. Teaching youth these attributes will allow these young men to show respect and appreciation during dining (and in other situations such as college recruitment outings or business opportunities).
Mask-Off in Partying with a Purpose
On Saturday, 22 April 2023 at 8:00 pm, Psi Alpha Scholarship Foundation (PASF) hosted its 19th Masquerade event at the Crown Ridge Banquet Center. The event labeled as “the Restart” was well attended by approximately three hundred fifty (350) guests including several members of the San Antonio Fiesta Commission Court like Fiesta’s Queen of Soul, Ms. Erica McFarland, and thirty (30+) brothers. The purpose of the event is PASF way of raising funds for scholarships for deserving high school students and the financial support of many community service activities.
