J.L. August Bridge Builders Foundation: Career Day at AT&T Spurs Entertainment
On January 30, 2023, the J.L. August Bridge Builders Foundation was welcome to the AT&T Center for a Career Day presentation by Spurs Entertainment. A total of forty (40) students from Randolph and Sam Houston High Schools were hosted to gain exposure for future career and professional opportunities. The day started with a tour around the AT&T Center and ended with a panel discussion from the Spurs Entertainment staff.
During the panel discussion, the staff was very transparent and gave the mentees a lot of information that they could place into their tool bags for success as the real world is just around the corner. Each mentee received four tickets to the next San Antonio Spurs basketball game.
Fatherhood Initiative Forum – Daddy’s want custody too!
On January 25th, four members of the Fatherhood Initiative Committee met have a conversation about child custody. All 4 of the members had fought for custody and to be part of their children’s lives. This forum was candid and needed for men with similar stories to listen and communicate with each other. It is important for fathers to have custody whether full, joint, or shared.
BACC Outreach (January 2023)
On January 6, 2023, Psi Alpha Chapter participated in a 2022 After Christmas shopping delivery. The effort valued at $1600 is for BACC’s Annual Toy Drive. Twenty-eight (28) scooters and (4) bikes were purchased with Bro. John Cooper being the member of “Team Omega” to assist in the shopping effort.
On January 26, 2023, “Team Omega” participated in a weekly food giveaway. This effort assisted members of the San Antonio Metropolitan Area with food, toiletries, and more. “Team Omega” consisted of four brothers and rendered 8 manhours towards this effort.
