‘The Hate Motivates Me’: Nicki Minaj Doubles Down on Trump Support

Minaj Calls Herself Trump’s “Number One Fan”

At a U.S. Treasury Department event promoting the administration’s new “Trump Accounts” investment initiative, Nicki Minaj used her time at the podium to deliver an unequivocal endorsement of Donald Trump, telling attendees she considers herself the president’s biggest supporter.

“I am probably the president’s number one fan,” Minaj said during the event in Washington, D.C., adding, “And that’s not going to change.”

Minaj directly addressed the criticism she has faced for aligning herself with the Trump administration, saying the backlash has had the opposite effect of what critics intend.

“What people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” she said. “It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more.”

She went on to frame opposition to Trump as bullying and smear campaigns, telling the audience, “We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him. It’s not going to work.”

Minaj also invoked religious language in her remarks, claiming Trump has “a lot of force behind him” and that “God is protecting him.”

Minaj’s vocal embrace of Trump has intensified scrutiny around her personal and legal circumstances. The artist has previously acknowledged entering the United States illegally and stated as recently as 2024 that she was not a U.S. citizen, prompting questions about whether immigration considerations could factor into her political alignment.

Her husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender, and her brother, Jelani Maraj, is currently incarcerated for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl. Minaj has also faced financial pressure tied to a lawsuit involving a former bodyguard who alleged Petty assaulted him. That case resulted in a $500,000 judgment, which attorneys confirmed was recently paid, though details surrounding the payment have not been disclosed.

Minaj’s appearance at a Treasury Department event and her public praise of Trump place her among a small but high-profile group of entertainers aligning themselves with the administration. Whether the endorsement carries political influence beyond headlines remains to be seen, but the reaction has already reignited debate over celebrity power, accountability, and the intersection of fame and politics.
