Netflix has officially greenlit a pilot for a modern sequel to the beloved sitcom “A Different World”, bringing the HBCU experience back to screens for a new generation. Production is already underway at Clark Atlanta University, the historic setting for the new series.
The reboot centers around Deborah Wayne — the fictional daughter of Whitley Gilbert and Dwayne Wayne — as she embarks on her own college journey. The lead role will be played by Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon, signaling a high-profile return to a story that helped define Black collegiate culture on television.
