The legal battle began in Texas, a state Grimes described as having “terrible mothers’ rights.” In his initial suit, he accused her of trying to move proceedings to California for higher child support payments. Grimes countersued in San Francisco to “establish parental relationship” and secure decision-making rights for her son.
Reports suggest the two reached a settlement in Texas earlier this year, but the status of Grimes’ countersuit remains unclear. In a since-deleted tweet, Grimes alleged that Musk had prevented her from seeing their child, fueling public curiosity about the ongoing dispute.

Amid this personal drama, he is also preparing to take on a new role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a position offered by President-elect Donald Trump.
