This year would be San Antonio’s 35th MLK march, the march as we knew it until Covid introduced itself to our world and this will mark the 2nd year the MLK march is canceled while offered virtually. District 2’s MLK Commission decided the fate of the march in a vote of its members and the majority voting to cancel. Covid is surging in San Antonio. The numbers have almost tripled in a few weeks time with the presence of the omicron variant. Hospitals are bursting at the seams and organizations, event managers etc., are trying to navigate the ever changing landscape of today’s covid.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr 35th Annual Mlk In-Person March Has Been Canceled Due to the Increase of Covid-19 Cases
Due to concerns around the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases within our San Antonio Community and surrounding areas, the City of San Antonio’s in-person March commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy and service, planned for Monday, January 17, 2022, has been canceled. We will be prioritizing the health and safety of our community and visitors while continuing to honor and celebrate Dr. King.
