Michelle Obama’s New Book ‘The Look’ Celebrates Fashion and Identity

AT A GLANCE
  • Michelle Obama’s new book The Look explores her fashion evolution and influence.
  • Guests include Jane Fonda, Bethann Hardison, and Jenna Lyons.
  • The series premieres Nov. 5; the book releases Nov. 4.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is merging her love for storytelling and style in her newest project — a book and podcast series titled The Look.

The book, set for release on Nov. 4, examines Obama’s fashion choices throughout her years in public life, from her White House wardrobe to her ongoing role as a global icon of authenticity and self-expression.

To mark the release, Obama will launch a six-part companion podcast series, IMO: The Look, premiering Nov. 5 through Higher Ground, the media company she co-founded with former President Barack Obama. Episodes will drop weekly and feature conversations with notable figures including Jane Fonda, Bethann Hardison, and Jenna Lyons, exploring the intersections of fashion, identity, and power.

The series begins with a live taping at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where Obama will sit down with actress and producer Tracee Ellis Ross to discuss how personal style can tell stories beyond politics or trends.

Obama’s previous memoir, Becoming, became one of the best-selling autobiographies in modern history, cementing her voice as both a cultural and literary force. The Look aims to continue that legacy — this time through the lens of fashion as a form of self-definition.
