Mayor’s Race: Election Results

San Antonio Mayoral Election 2025: Early Results Indicate Likely Runoff

San Antonio voters headed to the polls on May 3, 2025, to elect a new mayor, marking the city’s first open mayoral race in 16 years following Mayor Ron Nirenberg’s term limit. With 27 candidates on the ballot, early results suggest that no single candidate will secure the required majority, setting the stage for a runoff election.

As of the latest counts, Gina Ortiz Jones leads with approximately 27% of the vote, followed by former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos at around 15%. Tech entrepreneur Beto Altamirano and District 4 Councilmember Adriana Rocha Garcia trail with 12% and 10%, respectively.

Given that no candidate is expected to achieve over 50% of the vote, a runoff election between the top two contenders is anticipated on June 7. The new mayor will face significant decisions, including proposals for a downtown Spurs arena and surrounding entertainment district.
