Local Businesses and Nonprofits Will Help Provide Meal Vouchers and Food Boxes Under the City’s Relief Plan
As federal SNAP benefits are set to lapse on November 1 (tomorrow), Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is mobilizing local businesses and community leaders to help families bridge the food gap through a city-led emergency plan.
The mayor will held a press conference today to announce details of the initiative, which combines private donations, grocery partnerships, and nonprofit support. Mayor Jones opened with:
Our Communities Need us Now. As Mayor it is my priority to make sure San Antonians have the support they need when difficult times arise, and I want our community to know help is coming.
The city is creating a logistics plan to identify SNAP recipients who are already enrolled in municipal programs, ensuring food aid reaches families and seniors most in need.
