New AI Features Aim to Make Job Searching Less Brutal
In a tough job market flooded with layoffs, stiff competition, and inflated expectations, LinkedIn is rolling out new AI-driven tools designed to make job hunting less stressful—and more human.
Recognizing that two-thirds of professionals aren’t even sure what to search for, LinkedIn’s revamped job search engine now allows users to describe the type of work they want, even if it doesn’t match a traditional job title. The AI interprets user interests and skills, then filters opportunities that align with them—whether that’s creative roles in healthcare or gaming gigs for project managers.
Helping Grads (and Everyone Else) Rethink Career Paths
This feature comes just in time for the class of 2025. As new grads enter a shifting job landscape, LinkedIn career expert Andrew McCaskill reminds them: “Don’t be tied to what you thought you were going to do.”
He emphasizes that early-career professionals should use their first few years to learn what they like, what they hate, and who they want to become. “You’re not grinding for the company,” McCaskill said. “You’re grinding for you.”
Tackling “Ghost Jobs” and Improving Transparency
LinkedIn’s updates also include new transparency tools to fight fake job listings and hiring ghosting. Features like “verified listings,” response time estimates, and employer activity insights help users prioritize real opportunities.
To boost applicant confidence, the platform now includes job match ratings, AI coaching, and scenario-based feedback—helping professionals prep for interviews and understand their fit for a role.
Navigating a Noisy Internet with Better Guidance
With career advice flooding TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, LinkedIn encourages users to stay grounded. “Be really careful about who you take advice from,” McCaskill warned. “Take advice from people who made their money doing what you want to do—not just off internet drama.”
What’s Next?
LinkedIn’s new AI job search and hiring transparency tools are currently available for Premium users and will roll out to all users in the coming months—just in time to help more job seekers get clear on what they want, and where they’ll actually be valued.
