Keke Palmer Drops Visual Album ‘Just Keke,’ Opens Up About Breakup, Co-Parenting, and Rediscovering Her Strength
Keke Palmer’s latest project, Just Keke, is more than a visual album—it’s a self-reflective look at heartbreak, healing, and motherhood. Released Friday, June 20, the album chronicles the past two years of her life, including her highly publicized breakup with ex Darius Jackson, with whom she shares a 2-year-old son, Leo.
The project shares a title with Palmer’s former BET talk show Just Keke and is styled as a variety program. Featuring cinematic videos for each track and tributes to legends like Whitney Houston and Brandy, the album also includes cameos from Palmer’s own family and friend Issa Rae.
Healing Through Honesty
The Nope actress doesn’t shy away from vulnerability. Through emotional lyrics and dramatic visuals, she reflects on the emotional toll of her past relationship and the beauty that came from it—her son, Leo. “I learned I’m stronger than I knew,” Palmer told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.
Palmer revealed she shared the project with Jackson before its public debut. Despite their breakup, the two are in a good place as co-parents. “We’ve found a rhythm with Leo that works,” she said, noting the importance of stability for their son.
A Child Star Redefining Herself—On Her Terms
At 31, Keke Palmer is reintroducing herself—this time, on her own terms. Just Keke isn’t just about a breakup; it’s about a breakthrough. From child star to grown woman, she’s using her voice, her art, and her experience to tell her truth.
