Katt Williams Tapped as PGA Tour On-Course Correspondent

Katt Williams PGA Tour Debut: Comedian Joins FedEx St. Jude Championship Coverage

Katt Williams is trading the comedy stage for the fairway—at least for two days. The comedian is stepping into a surprising new role as an on-course correspondent for PGA Tour Live during the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.

Williams will pair with ESPN analyst Michael Collins on August 7–8, offering real-time commentary, golf insights, and likely a few laughs. This marks his second time teaming up with Collins after a guest appearance at the 2024 Tour Championship, but this time it’s official: he’s inside the ropes and mic’d up.

A Passion for the Game—and a Low-Key Flex

Williams may not be a scratch golfer, but he’s serious about his game. Although listed with a 19 handicap, the comedian insists it doesn’t reflect his actual play.

“I shoot low 80s. You don’t want to bet me,” Williams told The Hollywood Reporter. “Eighty-three is a good and gettable score for me across the country at excellent courses.”

The comic also sees golf as more than a game.

“The thing I like about golf is that it permeates so many parts of your life,” he said. “The first four holes not going your way? You can still fix the front nine. Golf teaches you that a rough start doesn’t mean a ruined day.”

PGA Tour’s New Strategy to Expand the Tent

Bringing Katt Williams into the PGA broadcast isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about audience. With viewership aging and expansion on the agenda, the PGA Tour is banking on Williams’ crossover appeal to attract new fans who may not normally tune into live golf.

He’ll follow the marquee group for the first two days of the tournament, helping anchor PGA Tour Live’s ESPN+ stream. The FedEx St. Jude Championship kicks off the 2025 FedExCup Playoffs, a three-tournament postseason where 70 top point-earners compete for a share of $100 million in bonus payouts.

The top 50 will move on to the BMW Championship, and just 30 will advance to the Tour Championship, where the FedExCup winner earns a $10 million bonus check.
