Jennifer Hudson Show Renewed for Season 5 as Daytime Talk Shows Face Cuts
At a time when several celebrity-led daytime programs are facing cancellations, The Jennifer Hudson Show is moving in the opposite direction.
Fox has officially renewed the Emmy-winning talk show for a fifth season, securing its place on daytime television through 2027.
Hudson Reflects on the Show’s Growth
“I could not be more honored to continue this journey alongside a phenomenal group of brilliant producers, dedicated crew, and collaborative partners,” said Jennifer Hudson in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
“It is such a joy to connect with people in meaningful ways every day across this country and to share stories of heart and inspiration, all while bringing entertainment into people’s lives. None of this would be possible without our incredible audience. They are the heartbeat of the show, and I am so excited to take this to new heights in season five.”
Hudson made her hosting debut in 2022 on her 41st birthday. Since then, the show has built a loyal audience drawn to candid celebrity interviews, emotional storytelling, and its now-viral pre-show “spirit tunnel” moments that regularly dominate social media timelines. Clips such as “Aaron Pierre that’s Mufasaaaa” helped cement the segment as a cultural staple.
Television executives say the renewal reflects what viewers are responding to.
Lauren Blincoe, senior vice president of current programming for Telepictures, described the fifth-season pickup as “a meaningful reminder that positivity, joy, and stories that celebrate the best in people continue to resonate deeply with viewers.”
Blincoe and Frank Cicha, executive vice president of programming for Fox Television Stations, praised Hudson as a “powerful force,” crediting her “talent, heart, and generosity of spirit” for fueling the show’s continued success.
Renewal Comes as Other Shows End
The season five announcement arrives shortly after Fox confirmed the cancellation of Sherri, hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian and actress Sherri Shepherd.
Though Shepherd has said she is not “going down without a fight,” she previously expressed gratitude for the platform.
“The love has been overwhelming,” Shepherd said. “I’ve had famous people call me. So many people have called and written to tell me how much of an impact this show made, and I’m thankful that I got to live a dream for four years. How many people can say that they got to live a dream with great ratings? Where you got to have a platform that made a difference?”
As daytime television continues to evolve, The Jennifer Hudson Show stands out as one of the few celebrity-hosted programs not only surviving, but expanding.
