On SiriusXM’s Urban View, Crockett Says Dems Are Afraid to Back Another Woman After Harris and Clinton
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is calling out what she says is the quiet part out loud: top Democratic donors are gunning for the “safest white boy” they can find to run for president in 2028. Speaking on SiriusXM’s Urban View with host Clay Cane and DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta, Crockett said there’s already a frontrunner — and it’s not a woman or a person of color.

“It is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost so far,” Crockett said, referencing Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024. “So there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘You know what? Let’s go find the safest white boy we can find.’ I mean, I’m just saying.”
Donors Have “Chosen” Their Guy — And It’s Not Who You Think
Crockett claimed the decision is already in motion behind closed doors. “I had a donor on the phones with me, telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate,” she said. “So I can tell you — and I tell you — it’s not a Black person nor a woman.”
She didn’t drop names, but the clues were clear: “They have, quote unquote, ‘they,’ have chosen,” she added. “And when I say ‘they,’ it’s the same donors that most likely had their opinions about Joe Biden.”
That points to major Democratic players—donors who helped push Biden forward in 2020 and likely nudged him out of the race in 2024 after his stumble in the polls and a rough debate showing. When Biden exited, he endorsed Kamala Harris, who ultimately lost to Trump — fueling internal panic and a return to “safe” strategy.
Grassroots Frustration Meets Donor Strategy
Urban View host Clay Cane backed up Crockett’s claim, saying, “Those are the callers that we’re hearing… A white man’s got to do it. We’re getting those callers.”
Crockett agreed, calling it a reflection of how desperate the party is to win, even if that means sidelining diversity. “I think that’s a natural fear because we just want to win,” she said.
Crockett Shuts Down Trump’s Third-Term Talk
As for Donald Trump’s frequent teases about running for a “third term,” Crockett isn’t entertaining it. “I know he thinks he’s running again, but that ain’t happening,” she said flatly. “I am telling y’all with all confidence, he is not running for a third term. That is not a thing.”
While Crockett didn’t confirm who the “chosen one” is, she made it clear that Democratic donors are already moving — and that the party’s path to 2028 may look a lot like its past, not its future.
