U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett is opening the 2026 Texas Democratic U.S. Senate primary with a strong early advantage, leading her closest opponent by double digits according to new internal campaign polling.

The poll, conducted among 1,005 likely Democratic primary voters, shows Crockett holding a 13-point lead, placing her just shy of the 50 percent threshold needed to win the nomination outright without a runoff. The results suggest broad statewide support only weeks after Crockett formally entered the race.

According to the polling memo, Crockett leads across every major demographic group and region of Texas, reinforcing her campaign’s argument that she is best positioned to consolidate Democratic voters and expand turnout heading into the March 3 primary election.

Terrance Woodbury, principal at HIT Strategies, said the results reflect consistency across multiple indicators.

“HIT Strategies used a gold-standard methodology, so there is no doubt about who is leading this race,” Woodbury said. “Across every key demographic and in every region of Texas, Jasmine Crockett is leading with just under the 50 percent of the vote she will need to win this Democratic primary. This poll confirms what nearly every public poll has shown—that she is the best-positioned candidate to both win the primary and rebuild and expand the Democratic electorate needed to capture this U.S. Senate seat.”

”I’m Texas Tough”

Crockett entered the Senate race in early December and has continued serving her congressional district while launching an aggressive statewide campaign schedule. She emphasized the pace and scope of her outreach efforts since announcing.

“I’ve been in this race for a little over a month while still showing up for my district in Washington,” Crockett said. “On the weekends, I’ve been pounding the pavement every chance I get—we’ve already done more than 30 events in over 15 cities, and that’s just over the last two weekends alone.”

The congresswoman said her campaign strategy centers on building a broad coalition that reaches voters in urban, suburban, and rural communities alike.

“This campaign will show up all across Texas—urban, suburban, and rural—because this coalition is for everyone who’s had enough,” Crockett said. “The system is broken. We see middle-class families paying more in taxes than billionaires, communities struggling to access healthcare and basic benefits, and working people being told there’s ‘not enough’ while the wealthy continue to profit.”

Crockett framed her candidacy as a rejection of traditional political playbooks, emphasizing trust, authenticity, and shared economic concerns.

“I refuse to accept politics as usual,” she said. “Voters are looking for leaders they know and fighters they trust in this moment. That cuts across every demographic, because we’re all in this together. Texans know I’m Texas tough—and we’re going to win this together.”

As the primary approaches, Crockett’s early polling advantage positions her as the clear front-runner in a race that is expected to draw intense statewide and national attention.
