Jamie Foxx- “A Journey Through Hell and Back”

Jamie Foxx opens up about his hospitalization: “A journey through hell and back”

On Instagram, Jamie Foxx posted a heartfelt video discussing his hospitalization earlier this year, sharing emotional reflections on the challenging experience.

In April 2023, the renowned singer and actor, aged 55, was hospitalized for unspecified reasons. Although his daughter Corinne mentioned that he faced a medical complication, no further details were disclosed. In the heartfelt video, Foxx expressed his gratitude towards his sister Deidra Dixon, his daughter, and the exceptional medical professionals who played a pivotal role in saving his life, without revealing the exact cause of his hospitalization.

“I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through,” Foxx said in the video. “I know a lot of people were waiting, you know, wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me … with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

Foxx also took time to debunk rumors that had spread about his condition.

“By being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand. … Some people said I was blind, but as you can see the eyes are working, the eyes are working just fine. Said I was paralyzed, I’m not paralyzed, but I did go through – I went to hell and back,” Foxx said, adding that his “road to recovery had some potholes as well.”

“But I’m coming back, and I’m able to work, so I want to thank people who let me work,” Foxx added, becoming visibly emotional. “And I just want to say that I love everybody and I love all the love that I got.”

John Boyega, who stars with Foxx and Teyonah Parris in the recently-released Netflix film “They Cloned Tyrone,” showed support for Foxx via Twitter on Saturday with a photo of himself and Foxx and a post that read “I’m wishing you nothing but continued success and good health long-term. NO weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

After Jamie Foxx shared a video update with his Instagram followers on Saturday, an outpouring of love and support came from his close friends and fans, including Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith, Justin Timberlake, and numerous others. The Oscar winner received heartfelt messages and well-wishes from the caring community surrounding him.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back,” he said of the fan support he had received.

As well as thousands of supportive messages from fans, many of Foxx’s A-list friends and collaborators were quick to share their support of the multi-hyphenate in the comments section of the new video.

“Love you, Foxx!!! ,” Timberlake, 42, wrote, as Michael B. Jordan expressed a similar sentiment: “I love you brother!!”

Others like Smith, 54, shared longer notes in the video’s comment section. “Awww Man,” the fellow Academy Award champ penned. “Who’s cuttin’ onions?? Love U Foxx!! Your Light Is Needed ‘n Appreciated Right Now!”

In the clip, Foxx explained that he knows “a lot of people” were “waiting” for updates about his condition, but said that “to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that.”

We are so happy to see Foxx back from a hellish medical nightmare, as he described, and wish him nothing but continued health, love and support.
