Iran Launches Missile Strikes on U.S. Bases in Qatar and Iraq

Iran launched a series of ballistic missile attacks Monday targeting U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions following recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The strikes reportedly hit Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar—a major U.S. command center in the Middle East—and a separate facility in Iraq that houses American troops. Explosions were heard across Doha, and Qatar temporarily closed its airspace as a precaution.

Iran’s military described the operation as a “mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America’s aggression,” announcing the strikes on state television.

This retaliation follows a coordinated U.S. operation over the weekend that targeted three Iranian nuclear sites located in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Those strikes were carried out using B-2 stealth bombers and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Iran had previously warned that U.S. aggression would bring “dire consequences.” Monday’s missile attack appears to be the fulfillment of that warning, directly targeting American forces stationed in the region.

The U.S. and British embassies in Qatar issued emergency alerts urging citizens to shelter in place, while military leaders assessed the damage and next steps. A Western diplomat confirmed that threats to Al Udeid had been circulating throughout the day.

This marks the first time Iran has directly targeted U.S. military installations in Qatar, significantly raising the stakes in the broader conflict that began with Israel’s strikes on Iranian territory earlier this month.

With tensions now boiling across the region, the international community awaits the United States’ next move. The risk of further escalation remains high.
