From ‘Sinners’ to ‘Abbott Elementary’: 83rd Golden Globes Nominations Are Here

Golden Globes Drop 2026 Nominations: ‘Sinners,’ ‘Abbott Elementary,’ and More Lead a Stacked Year

The 83rd Golden Globe Award nominations arrived December 8, and while Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” naturally dominated the conversation with seven nominations, the full slate shows this year’s contenders aren’t short on standout performances across film, television, and even podcasts ahead of the January 11, 2026 telecast.

“Sinners” secured nominations for Best Picture Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for Michael B. Jordan, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson, Best Original Song for “I Lied to You,” and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Beyond Coogler’s film, several major names earned recognition. Tessa Thompson was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for “Hedda,” while Dwayne Johnson picked up a nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for “The Smashing Machine.”

Cynthia Erivo landed a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for “Wicked: For Good,” and Chase Infiniti joined her in the category for “One Battle After Another.” Teyana Taylor also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture for her work in “One Battle After Another.”

Television categories reflected another year of crowd favorites. “Abbott Elementary” earned a nomination for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy. Sterling K. Brown picked up a nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series Drama for “Paradise,” while Ayo Edebiri was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for “The Bear.”

Rashida Jones received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in “Black Mirror,” and Ashley Walters was nominated for Best Supporting Performance by a Male Actor on Television for “Adolescence.”

On the comedic front, Kevin Hart earned a nomination for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for “Kevin Hart: Acting My Age.”

Even podcasts were included in this year’s honors, with NPR’s “Up First” securing a nomination for Best Podcast, recognized for its daily morning newscasts hosted by Leila Fadel, Steve Inskeep, Michel Martin, A Martinez, Ayesha Rascoe, and Scott Simon.
