Looking for a fun and free way to stay active and connect with neighbors? The Wheatley Heights Sports Complex is offering Community Open Play, welcoming people of all ages to come out, move, and enjoy the fresh air.
Located at 200 Noblewood Dr. inside Martin Luther King Park, this open play opportunity is perfect for families, friends, or anyone wanting to break a sweat and have fun. Whether you want to run on the track, kick around a soccer ball, or try your hand at flag football, there’s something for everyone.
Enjoying movement outdoors is essential for both physical and mental well-being. Fresh air, sunlight, and nature stimulate the body and mind, reducing stress and improving mood. Walking, running, or simply stretching outside boosts circulation, strengthens muscles, and enhances overall fitness. Being in natural surroundings fosters mindfulness, creativity, and a sense of connection to the environment. Outdoor movement also increases vitamin D levels, which support bone health and immunity. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll or an intense workout, spending time outside breaks routine, combats fatigue, and promotes a healthier, more active lifestyle, making it a simple yet powerful wellness habit.

No need to sign up—just show up and join in! With today’s busy schedules, it’s easy to forget to make time for exercise and fresh air. Community Open Play at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex makes it easy to prioritize both—without any cost. So grab your sneakers, bring a friend, and come enjoy some free fun at one of San Antonio’s best sports facilities!
Regarding public residents use of the track, we are wondering why the days and hours are so limited. It’s a city park facility, now run by the city as we understand it. Who are they “saving” it for?
