Free and Low-Cost Spring Break Fun Across San Antonio Parks Starts This Week

Residents Looking for Affordable Spring Break Fun Can Find Activities Across San Antonio’s Parks, Trails and Community Centers Throughout the Week

San Antonio families looking for ways to stay active during Spring Break will find plenty of options through programs offered by the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.

The city announced a lineup of free and low-cost activities beginning this week designed to keep kids, teens and adults engaged while school is out. From splash pads and swimming to STEM programs and outdoor nature events, the schedule focuses on helping families spend time together without spending much money.

Splash Pads Open for Spring

Seven city splash pads reopen starting March 7, offering free outdoor water play daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The splash pads are designed for younger children and families looking to cool off during warmer days, providing a safe and accessible way for residents to enjoy San Antonio’s parks.

Free Swimming During Spring Break

Residents can also take advantage of free swim access from March 9–14 at the Atanacio Garcia Natatorium.

The facility will offer both open swim and lap swim sessions, giving families and fitness-minded residents an indoor option to stay active during the school break.

Low-Cost Spring Break Day Camp

For parents seeking structured activities for their children, Parks and Recreation will host Spring Break Camp from March 9–13 at participating community centers.

The camp is open to children ages 6–14 and costs $3 per child per day, which includes lunch and a snack.

Participants will take part in activities including:

• Games and fitness programs

• Arts and crafts
• Group activities designed to build social skills and creativity

STEM Event Highlights Science and Technology

Another highlight of the week is “STEM-agine That!”, a free event focused on science, technology, engineering and math learning.

The event will take place March 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hamilton Community Center and will feature hands-on demonstrations, interactive exhibits and presentations introducing youth to STEM-based programs offered through city parks.

Registration is required to attend.

Nature Programs Connect Residents to Local Wildlife

Residents can also join the Nature in Our Neighborhoods program, which introduces participants to local wildlife and ecosystems.

Upcoming sessions include:

• March 14 – 9 a.m. to noon – San Pedro Springs Park
• March 28 – 9 a.m. to noon – Martin Luther King Park

The program is led by members of the Parks Natural Areas team and includes educational activities about the plants and animals that call San Antonio home.

Public Art and Outdoor Exploration

Visitors can also explore a new public art installation at Pearsall Park, where a recently unveiled artwork adds another creative attraction to one of the city’s most popular outdoor spaces.

The installation highlights the collaboration between artists and city planners working to bring more public art into community parks.

Hundreds of Parks Across the City

San Antonio’s park system includes more than 260 parks, 140 miles of park trails, and over 100 miles of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System, giving residents numerous opportunities to explore the outdoors during Spring Break and throughout the year.

Residents looking for nearby parks, trails or recreation programs can visit the city’s parks website to find locations and schedules across the city.
