Fred Brock Post 828 Recognized for 100 Percent Membership, Post History

Five delegates from Fred Brock American Legion Post No. 828, District 20, located on the eastside of San Antonio, attended the 103rd Annual Convention of the Department of Texas held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, July 15 – 17.

On the second day of the convention, posts from throughout the state received numerous membership awards.

Post 828 was recognized for the following:  All-Time High, Post Recruiting Award, Post Retention Award (90% or more), and National Commander Paul E. Dillard Certificate of Appreciation for attaining 100% goal for 2022.

Additionally, Post 828 was awarded first place in the Post History and Scrapbook Contest (Narrative).

“I was extremely proud to bring home the first place plaque for our Post Narrative History which will be sent to Milwaukee, Wis., for national competition,” said Post Cmdr. Burrell Parmer. “I felt great each time Post 828’s name was called to the dais to collect the awards.”

According to Parmer, he will join TEXALPA so that Post 828 can be recognized for the great work they do with their website and social media.

“Attending the convention was very rewarding as I was able to reunite with old friends and share ideas with other commanders on membership, operations, activities, and fundraisers,” said Parmer. “I want to thank our delegates who traveled to Austin to attend the convention.”

The Post is celebrating its 75th Anniversary and is hosting several events and activities which will culminate with a Diamond Anniversary Dinner on Oct. 15, 2022.

Hours of operation are Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4 pm – midnight.
