Fiesta Attendees Should Arrive Early and Plan Ahead for Traffic and Detours

Fiesta event attendees are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and arrive early to downtown events to avoid expected disruptions related to traffic and parking. Attendees should consider taking public transportation, ride-share, biking, walking, or consult a navigation and traffic app. VIA Metropolitan Transit’s Park & Ride will be available from multiple locations for many Fiesta events, including the Fiesta parades, NIOSA, and the King William Fair. A full schedule and locations can be found on VIA’s website.

Residents are advised that streets will close early for the Fiesta Battle of Flowers Parade on Friday, Apr. 28 (streets close at 7 a.m. and reopen by 2 p.m.), and for the Fiesta Flambeau Parade on Saturday, Apr. 29 (streets close at 4 p.m. and reopen by 1 a.m.). Visit SASpeakUp.com/Fiesta2023 for Fiesta related downtown street closure and parking information.

Downtown construction will also pose obstacles. A full list of lane closures can be found on the City’s Public Works Department website.

Attendees who choose to drive can visit the City’s SAPark website for parking options. Note that event rates may apply, and parking is subject to availability. The Downtown Tuesday free parking program will be temporarily suspended on Tuesday, Apr. 25.

Fiesta San Antonio, the annual city-wide celebration commemorating the history and culture of San Antonio, takes place Apr. 20-30, 2023.
