FBI Identifies Palm Springs Fertility Clinic Bombing as Terrorist Attack

Suspect Dies in Car Bombing at American Reproductive Centers

May 17, 2025, a car bombing outside the American Reproductive Centers in Palm Springs, California, resulted in the death of the suspect and injuries to four others. The FBI has classified the incident as an intentional act of terrorism.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus from Twentynine Palms, died in the explosion he initiated. Bartkus, who held anti-natalist beliefs, opposed human reproduction and targeted the fertility clinic due to its services. He attempted to livestream the attack, but the video was not successfully uploaded.

Clinic Staff and Embryos Unharmed

The explosion caused significant damage to the clinic’s office space, but the in vitro fertilization lab and stored embryos remained intact. Dr. Maher Abdallah, who leads the clinic, confirmed that no staff members were harmed, as the clinic was closed at the time of the incident.
