Junior Wallstreeters Launch 6th Annual Camp and New Workshop with Michael Harriot
Kevon Chisolm and his son Kamari are continuing their mission to close the racial wealth gap and educate the next generation of Black investors. Through their nonprofit, Junior Wallstreeters, Inc., the father-son duo is hosting two powerful programs this summer: a free financial wellness workshop and their 6th annual Financial Literacy Virtual Summer Camp for youth ages 12 to 21.
Free Financial Wellness Workshop with Michael Harriot
Kicking things off, Junior Wallstreeters will host a free Zoom session titled “Empowering Communities with Financial Wellness” on Friday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. EST. The interactive workshop will feature Kevon Chisolm, Esq. in conversation with Michael Harriot, renowned cultural critic and author of Black AF History: The Un-Whitewashed Story of America.
The discussion will dive into practical strategies for building intergenerational wealth, the roots of the racial wealth gap, and why early financial literacy is critical for both youth and adults. Advance registration is required and open to the public.
Financial Literacy Summer Camp Returns for Year Six
Starting June 23, Junior Wallstreeters will launch the 6th season of their virtual summer camp series, “Junior Wallstreeters: Empowering Youth with Financial Wellness.” The camp teaches students the building blocks of budgeting, banking, credit, stock market investing, insurance, and how to build wealth through community investing—all through a culturally relevant curriculum rooted in Black history and experience.
Camp sessions are:
- Session 1: June 23 – July 3 | 10 AM – 3 PM EST | $300
- Session 2: July 7 – 18 | 10 AM – 3:30 PM EST | $325
Each session includes live daily instruction, an electronic handbook, and access to a peer learning community.
Advanced Camps Offer Real Estate and Crypto Education
For returning students or those ready to deepen their knowledge, Junior Wallstreeters also offers two advanced-level camps:
- Intro to Real Estate Investing: July 15 – 19 | $325
- Intro to Cryptocurrency & Digital Platforms: July 20 – 24 | $325 (includes free cryptocurrency upon completion)
Both camps are structured to equip students with real-world skills in property analysis, financing, and emerging digital assets.
Scholarships Available to Ensure Equity
In line with their mission to serve underserved communities, need-based scholarships are available. A recent donation in the Pittsburgh area has already covered costs for five campers, and the organization encourages additional sponsors to contribute toward tuition for other students in need. Donations and scholarship applications can be submitted at JuniorWallstreeters.org/scholarship.
Why It Matters
“Our goal is to address the wealth gap by showing young people how to use money as a tool,” said Kevon Chisolm, referencing data from the Federal Reserve that shows only 34% of Black households and 24% of Latino households own stock—compared to 61% of white households.
Past campers echo the program’s impact. “This class is perfect for kids and teens,” one participant said. “It taught me about the stock market, African-American history, credit cards, and insurance—things I never learned in school. It made a big impact on me.”
