San Antonio’s Runoff Election Voting Period this Saturday, June 7th
San Antonio heads back to the polls this Saturday, June 7, to decide the final winners in key local races. After a competitive May election, no candidate in several major contests secured more than 50% of the vote — leading to run-off elections that will determine who leads our city into the future.
Who’s Still in the Running?
MAYORAL RUN-OFF:
Gina Ortiz Jones vs. Rolando Pablos
Neither candidate won outright in May, and now voters must choose between these two contenders. Ortiz Jones, a former Air Force veteran and federal official, is facing off against Pablos, a business executive and former Texas Secretary of State.
CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT RUN-OFFS:
Four City Council districts are in the runoff election due to no candidate achieving a majority:
District 1:
- Dr. Sukh Kahr
- Patty Gibbons
District 6:
- Kelly Ann Gonzalez
- Ric Galvan
District 8:
- Ivalis Meza Gonzalez
- Paula McGee
District 9:
- Misty Spears
- Angela “Angi” Taylor Aramburu
These council races are critical, especially as San Antonio debates housing, police reform, development, and community investment.
Where and When to Vote
Election Day is Saturday, June 7, 2025
Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. across Bexar County.
Voters can cast their ballot at any polling location — you are not limited to a single assigned site.
Bring a valid photo ID. Accepted forms include a Texas driver’s license, passport, military ID, or a voter registration certificate with supporting documentation.
Why This Matters
These races will determine how your tax dollars are spent, which neighborhoods get prioritized for infrastructure, and who holds power in shaping San Antonio’s future. With low turnout often deciding run-offs, your vote carries even more weight.
In May’s city election, turnout hovered around 11%. We saw an influx of voters casting ballots during the early run-off voting period- 65,000+. With several tight races, your vote this Saturday could decide it all.
