Eddie Murphy has confirmed that his son, Eric Murphy, recently married Jasmin Lawrence—daughter of fellow comedy legend Martin Lawrence—in a private church ceremony. The revelation came during Murphy’s appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he shared that the couple tied the knot “two weeks ago” with no fanfare.
“They went off, everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them,” Murphy said. “They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing. So I think we’ll have a big party or something.”
Murphy couldn’t help but poke fun, joking, “Martin doesn’t have to pay for a big wedding now,” before adding, “We’re in-laws.”
From Low-Key Love to Lifelong Commitment
Eric and Jasmin got engaged in November 2023 after a romantic proposal set to Eric Benét’s “Spend My Life With You.” The proposal took place in a rose-filled room that Jasmin later described as a dream come true.
“We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny,” she shared online. “We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️.”
The couple first went public with their relationship in June 2021, but according to Jasmin, their love story didn’t start on a red carpet. She told InTouch Weekly in 2022 that they actually met through her uncle—not through their famous fathers, who have starred together in multiple films.
