Eastside History Needs Your Voice- Survey on Historic Cemeteries

Help Shape the Future of San Antonio’s Historic Cemeteries and Your Community

The City of San Antonio’s Parks & Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Office of Historic Preservation, is currently updating the Historic Eastside Cemeteries Master Plan — and they’re inviting you to weigh in. Residents are encouraged to take a short survey and share their thoughts on how these sacred spaces can be improved, preserved, and better utilized for the community. Whether it’s landscaping, signage, accessibility, or educational programming, your voice matters in shaping the vision for these historic cemeteries.

You can find the survey and other opportunities to get involved by visiting HERE, where the City shares updates, meeting schedules, and public input events. The deadline for this survey is June 10th.

Why Your Voice Matters

Too often, decisions about our neighborhoods are made without us. When you speak up about what matters in your community—whether it’s a historic cemetery, a park, or a street corner—you’re helping shape a future that reflects the people who actually live there. These cemeteries are not just final resting places; they are living records of our history and deserve the care and recognition that comes from community-driven planning.

Share Your Thoughts

Sharing your thoughts ensures that improvements match what the neighborhood really needs—not just what outside planners think might look nice. Participating in surveys and community meetings makes it clear that Eastside voices won’t be overlooked. Your opinions can lead to better programming, cultural preservation, and respectful restoration that honors your legacy and loved ones. Speak up, because your neighborhood deserves nothing less.
