Dystany Spurlock and Foxxtecca Team Up to Break Barriers in Motorsports

Dystany Spurlock Makes History as Second Black Woman to Compete in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Class

Professional motorcycle drag racer Dystany Spurlock made history on June 20 at the Virginia NHRA Nationals, becoming only the second Black woman ever to compete in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class. Her debut marks a pivotal cultural moment in motorsports, backed by Foxxtecca, a media and mobility company focused on equity and representation.

Spurlock now joins the ranks of Peggy Llewellyn, the first Black woman to compete at this elite level, forming an exclusive group of women of color pushing boundaries in the sport.

A DEI Commitment Backed by Personal Investment

Foxxtecca co-founder Chris Harris said he’s been supporting Spurlock behind the scenes since 2021. After years of failed attempts to secure corporate backing, he and business partner Kellie Crawford decided to invest in Spurlock’s racing future directly.

“We’re not shying away from the DEI conversation; we’re embracing it fully,” Harris said. “Foxxtecca may be a small company with limited resources, but we believe in Dystany and understand the impact of her visibility at this level.”

He hopes larger sponsors will take notice and step in to help fund a full-time campaign for Spurlock by 2026.

Black and Hispanic Excellence Unite on the Track

Spurlock’s debut is powered by Arana Racing, a respected team led by champions Hector Arana Sr. and Hector Arana Jr.—a father-son duo known for their innovation in motorcycle drag racing. The partnership symbolizes a powerful collaboration between Black and Hispanic excellence on a national stage.

Representation With Purpose

Spurlock, who has faced significant challenges to reach this point, says her journey is about more than racing.

“This moment has been years in the making,” she said. “I’ve faced every kind of roadblock imaginable, but I’ve never stopped chasing this dream. I’m proud to represent my community, and I’m beyond thankful to Foxxtecca for believing in me when so many didn’t. This isn’t just about me racing—it’s about showing the next generation what’s possible.”

Spotlight on the Virginia NHRA Nationals

The Virginia NHRA Nationals run June 20–22 at Virginia Motorsports Park in North Dinwiddie, Virginia. Spurlock’s historic run is expected to draw fans, supporters, and national media attention—all eager to witness a major step forward for diversity in motorsports.
