Dylan Harper Out Multiple Weeks With Calf Strain, Spurs Confirm MRI Results
The San Antonio Spurs announced Monday that rookie guard Dylan Harper will miss multiple weeks after an MRI revealed a left calf strain suffered during Sunday’s win over the Phoenix Suns.
The San Antonio Spurs today announced that Dylan Harper underwent an MRI in Los Angeles this morning that revealed he has a left calf strain. The injury occurred in the second quarter of last night’s game against the Phoenix Suns. The team will provide updates as appropriate.
The injury occurred in the second quarter as Harper tried to disrupt a post entry pass and challenge a dunk attempt by Phoenix center Nick Richards. He limped off immediately and was later seen leaving the arena in a walking boot.
According to the team’s update, Harper’s MRI confirmed the strain but showed no structural damage, easing concerns about a more severe setback.
Before the injury, the No. 2 overall pick was already exceeding expectations. Harper has been averaging 14 points, four rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game off the bench, shooting 35.7% from three-point range and displaying poise well beyond his rookie status.
His chemistry with Victor Wembanyama has been a cornerstone of the Spurs’ 5–1 start, with Harper seamlessly complementing the reigning Rookie of the Year on both ends of the floor.

Harper’s absence comes as the Spurs continue to navigate other injuries. De’Aaron Fox has yet to make his season debut due to a lingering hamstring issue, forcing rookie Stephon Castle into an expanded role in the backcourt.
The Spurs haven’t offered a timetable for Harper’s return, but the team’s announcement that he will miss “multiple weeks” suggests he’ll be sidelined through at least mid-November.
For now, San Antonio’s strong start will be tested as the young roster looks to maintain momentum without two of its primary guards.
