Hosted by AnujaSA and the City of San Antonio, DiwaliSA is an opportunity for the community to come together and honor the diverse heritage of India.
Celebrating Light and Unity
Diwali, known as the “festival of lights,” symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and perseverance. The festival is marked by illuminating homes and streets with candles, lamps, and lights, creating a stunning display against the night sky. DiwaliSA holds special significance in San Antonio, as it is inspired by the Sister-City Agreement with Chennai, India, established in 2008.
“San Antonio is rich in culture and honored to support celebrations like DiwaliSA,” stated Mayor Ron Nirenberg. This festival exemplifies the camaraderie fostered through the city’s alliance with Chennai, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to celebrate friendship and solidarity.
A Night of Festivities
AnujaSA, dedicated to strengthening the relationship between San Antonio and Chennai, has organized a series of exchanges that enrich both cities in areas such as arts, education, and commerce. “DiwaliSA is an invitation for everyone to experience the beauty of unity in diversity,” said AnujaSA President Kausi Subramaniam. Attendees can look forward to a night filled with lights, music, dance, a River Parade, vendors, fireworks, and much more.
This annual celebration is a testament to the strong ties between San Antonio and Chennai, showcasing the richness of Indian culture while encouraging community engagement and collaboration. Don’t miss the chance to join in the festivities and illuminate our city with joy and togetherness!
