The Impeachment Effort Against Kristi Noem Has Reached 100 Democratic Cosponsors in the U.S. House
Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) says her impeachment resolution targeting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has now reached 100 Democratic cosponsors, with many signing on over the past week.
In a statement, Kelly said Democrats across the country are backing the effort because, in her view, communities have directly experienced what she described as aggressive ICE tactics. She argued that as Noem “lies,” blocks congressional oversight, and violates civil rights, support for impeachment is continuing to build.

Kelly rolled out three proposed articles of impeachment last Wednesday, accusing Noem of obstructing Congress, violating the public trust, and self-dealing. A full list of Democratic cosponsors has been published.

Separately, House Judiciary Committee Democrats are pushing for a committee-driven investigation into Noem. Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) released a letter signed by 71 Democrats calling for immediate hearings into what they describe as Noem’s “unlawful and potentially impeachable” conduct. Ramirez’s push matters because a Judiciary Committee investigation is typically the first major step toward a formal impeachment process.
This Move May Not Go Far- For Now
For now, these moves may not go far with Republicans controlling both chambers. But if Democrats flip the House in November—something party leaders believe is within reach—they could use the current momentum to move quickly on action against Noem.
