Debate Intensifies Over Political Rhetoric, AI Misuse, and the Tone of National Leadership

America is Losing It’s Optimism: Obama Calls Trump’s Racist AI Post a ‘Clown Show’ Distraction

In the wake of the scandal surrounding Trump posting a racist AI video on his X account of former 44th President Barack Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, depicted as apes, Obama recently responded to the video.

Americans ‘Find This Behavior Deeply Troubling…”

Writer Chandelis Duster, in his 2026 article for NPR, “Obama Responds to Trump Sharing Racist AI Video Depicting Him as An Ape”, writes, “Former President Barack Obama has responded to the racist video posted by President Donald Trump’s social media account earlier this month…During an interview with YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama said many Americans ‘find this behavior deeply troubling’… ‘There doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum and a sense of propriety and respect for the office,’ Obama said in the interview, which was posted on YouTube Saturday.” Obama followed up his sentiments by saying that “‘there’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and on television,’” referring to the controversy around Trump’s presidency as a “distraction”.

Not One Sign of Remorse

Distraction doesn’t even begin to cover the recent events of the Trump presidency. The 47th President has made it clear he shows no remorse towards the blatant and offensive disrespect shown towards his predecessors. With the economy continuing to be in disarray, due to the effects of the global tariffs as well as the rise in the use and commodification of artificial intelligence (A.I.), much of the American public are looking to the government to assist or provide solutions to the widening area between unemployment and underemployment.

Writer Walter Frick, in his 2026 article for Bloomberg, “America Is Losing Its Optimism”, writes, “America is short on optimism, according to a poll released this week by Gallup that asked US adults what they expect their lives to be like in five years…it’s the result of objective economic factors, including those not well captured by traditional indicators — like uncertainty, inequality or even fear of new technologies like AI…The true doomer might even reach for geopolitics: Americans are gloomy about their future because they are a fading power on the world stage.”

Encouraging Blatant Hate Speech

Are we witnessing an era of political dehumanization? Where hierarchical governing bodies target those they deem a threat to themselves as well as to their agendas and trivialize their autonomy, essentially encouraging blatant hate speech that can go beyond verbal? Usually a distraction is far from trivial. In fact, it is a message for what is coming.
