District 2 Councilman commends the community process and approves final redistricting maps for implementation
City Council unanimously approved the Redistricting Committee’s final plan. The citizen committee held 15 public committee meetings and 29 community meetings city-wide. With this implemented plan, District 2 boundaries remain entirely unchanged, and our neighborhoods remain intact. As San Antonio continues to grow and welcome new constituents, it is imperative that our Districts are represented and receive resources as equitably as possible.
Councilman reflected on Brackenridge Park as a city gem that District 2 has shared with District 1. “The joint stewardship is a successful partnership between our two districts and will remain so. I am grateful we will continue to share Brackenridge Park in this redistricting plan, despite the battles it took to ensure District 2 retained our rightful representation there. Brackenridge Park is a city-wide, sacred, and special space, and we honor all of those who recognize its inherent value.”
Councilman McKee-Rodriguez thanks the District 2 committee members Dwayne Robinson and Devorah Frost for their commitment to this process and for all their work to ensure District 2 was well represented throughout. We recognize the other committee members, co-chairs, and City Staff for their collaboration and commitment to this once-a-decade event. Finally, District 2 sincerely shares deep gratitude to every community member who expressed their concerns, opinions, and care for the Eastside and our City as a whole.
