COVID-19 VACCINE CONVERSATIONS AND DISABILITY-FRIENDLY VACCINE CLINICS AVAILABLE FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH A DISABILITY
Community is encouraged to attend Vax-abilitySTRONG COVID-19 vaccine education program tailored to educate and facilitate vaccines around the city
An estimated one in every seven individuals in San Antonio lives with a disability. Although there are many opportunities to get the COVID-19 vaccine, accessibility can still be a challenge for individuals living with a disability. disABILITYsa, a local nonprofit organization working to educate, advance and engage individuals living with disabilities by sharing information, creating opportunities, and strengthening service organizations in San Antonio, has launched an exciting new initiative, the Vax-abilitySTRONG Education & Outreach program.
The program features vaccine champions from the disability community; a collection of accessible resources, along with conversations and workshops about COVID-19 vaccines. This program is funded by the Texas A&M Health and the State of Texas Department of Health Services. Additional support is provided by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) Department for Health and Wellness and the Houston Area Community Foundation.
