As the cities of San Antonio and Austin continue to expand and evolve, the concept of a “San Antonio-Austin Mega Region” is becoming a hot topic among civic leaders, policymakers, and residents alike. In an effort to explore the potential benefits and challenges of this emerging mega region, a special event titled “Cocktails & Conversation” is set to take place, focusing on the growth and collaboration between these two dynamic cities.
Scheduled for March 27, 2024, the event promises an evening of insightful discussion accompanied by a cocktail reception. The reception is slated to start at 4:30 PM located at Make Ready, 203 8th Street, San Antonio, Texas 78215, which will provide attendees with an opportunity to mingle and network before the main conversation kicks off at 5:30 PM. During the panel discussion, which will last until 6:30 PM, experts will tackle various critical questions surrounding the mega-region’s development. Leading the panel is a group who are well-versed in the intricacies of urban development and regional planning. The panel includes Henry Cisneros, the former Mayor of San Antonio and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, known for his contributions to urban development and his book “The Texas Triangle: An Emerging Power in the Global Economy.” Joining him is Tommy Calvert, Bexar County Commissioner for Precinct 4 and a committee member of The Greater Austin – San Antonio Corridor Council, alongside Beto Altamirano, co-founder of Isys and the Better Futures Institute, a prominent figure in San Antonio’s civic and philanthropic circles.
