City Releases Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule for 2025

City Service Changes Announced for Thanksgiving 2025 Weekend

The City of San Antonio has released its official Thanksgiving 2025 holiday schedule, detailing service adjustments and closures from Thursday, November 27, through Saturday, November 29. City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, with normal business hours resuming Monday, December 1. Public safety departments, including police, fire, and EMS, will remain fully operational throughout the holiday.

The City outlined specific hours for general services, solid waste collection, and public facilities, including parking, parks, and cultural centers. Major shifts include no curbside garbage, recycling, or organics collection on Thanksgiving Day and modified pickup on Friday and Saturday. Several facilities will close both days, including all public libraries, community centers, Metro Health locations, and various administrative offices.

Below is the complete schedule released by the City:

Police & Fire
• Police will be on duty
• Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel will be on duty

General Services
• 3-1-1 (210-207-6000) will be operational only for urgent animal-related and traffic signal concerns from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Thursday, November 27. The Call Center resumes normal hours Friday, November 28.
• Animal Care Officers will be on duty.
• Code Enforcement Officers will be available for inspections and emergency coverage.
• Downtown parking visitors will enjoy free parking on Thursday, November 27, at all City-operated garages, lots, and on-street meters. On Friday, November 28, free parking applies only to on-street meters; garages and lots resume normal operations.
• City parks and trails will be open.
• Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be closed Thursday, November 27, but will open Friday, November 28, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Black Furday adoption event.
• Municipal Court Magistration services and SAPD’s detention center will be open.

Waste Collection & Drop Off

Thursday, November 27
• No garbage, recycling, or organics curbside collections.
• Bitters Brush site at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway will be closed.
• All four Bulky Waste drop-off centers and the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off centers (Bitters, Frio City Rd., Rigsby, and Culebra) will be closed.

Friday, November 28
• Garbage, recycling, and organics will be collected from Thursday’s routes.
• Bitters Brush site will be closed.
• All four Bulky Waste and Household Hazardous Waste drop-off centers will be closed.

Saturday, November 29
• Garbage, recycling, and organics will be collected from Friday’s routes.
• Bitters Brush site will be open.
• All Bulky Waste and Household Hazardous Waste drop-off centers will be open.

Mixed Schedule
• La Villita and Market Square shops closed Thursday; open Friday.
• Spanish Governor’s Palace closed Thursday; open Friday.
• Alamodome Box Office closed Thursday; open Friday at 5 p.m.
