Chadwick Boseman Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Late Actor to Be Honored With Posthumous Tribute

Chadwick Boseman’s influence continues to shape film, culture and the generations inspired by his work. Five years after his passing, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will memorialize the late actor with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, officially cementing his place among the industry’s most revered talents.

The Walk of Fame ceremony is set for Nov. 20. According to Billboard, “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler and actor Viola Davis, Boseman’s co-star in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” will deliver remarks celebrating his life and artistry. Simone Ledward-Boseman, his widow, will accept the honor on his behalf.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said the organization is “deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy,” noting that his work on and off-screen “continues to inspire generations around the world.”

Before becoming a global icon through his role as King T’Challa in Marvel’s “Black Panther,” Boseman built a reputation portraying pivotal figures in Black American history, including Jackie Robinson, James Brown, and Thurgood Marshall. His performance in “Black Panther” turned him into an international symbol of strength, dignity, and cultural pride.

Following his death from colon cancer in 2020 at age 43, Boseman received a posthumous Academy Award nomination for his role as Levee Green in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” along with wins and nominations from the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards and the Screen Actors Guild.

Howard University, his alma mater, renamed its College of Fine Arts in his honor, ensuring future artists learn under a banner reflecting his integrity and excellence.

Coogler previously reflected on the depth Boseman brought to his relationships and roles. “He was the kind of teacher who you never knew you was getting a lesson when he taught,” he said. “It was all by example.”

Viola Davis also shared her reflections in 2020, remembering how fully Boseman embraced life. “It’s not the quantity, it’s the quality,” she said. “What I hold onto with Chad is that he lived his life his way… with the utmost integrity.”

Viewers can stream the Nov. 20 ceremony live at WalkOfFame.com, and Boseman’s star—located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd.—will be open to the public following the unveiling.
