Experience Native American Heritage & Cowboy Christmas at the Briscoe
As the holiday season approaches, the Briscoe Western Art Museum invites everyone to experience a festive journey celebrating rich Western heritage and diverse traditions.
Native American Heritage Month Events
To honor Native American Heritage Month, the Briscoe Western Art Museum is excited to relaunch its Native American Film Series, highlighting the rich storytelling traditions of Indigenous cultures.
The series kicks off with “Rez Ball” on October 20 and continues with “Windtalkers” on November 17. Admission is included with museum tickets, which are free for members.
In addition to the film series, the Yanaguana Indian Arts Festival takes place on November 9, showcasing vibrant Native American art, performances, and storytelling. The festival is free and welcomes everyone to celebrate the creativity and culture of Indigenous communities.
Visitors can also look forward to a special event featuring Navajo artist Ed Natiya on November 14, where he will share his sculpture techniques and the stories behind his work.
Cowboy Christmas at the Briscoe
As winter sets in, the museum transforms for Cowboy Christmas with Cowboy Santa visits, crafts, a holiday scavenger hunt, and seasonal fun for the whole family.
On December 1, families can meet Cowboy Santa, enjoy holiday crafts, and participate in a special scavenger hunt throughout the museum. This festive day is also Locals Day, granting free admission to residents of San Antonio and Bexar County.
