Spurs Guard Stephon Castle Delivered a Career Night Saturday, Joining David Robinson in Franchise History
Stephon Castle went berserk over the weekend as the Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks 138-125 Saturday at the Frost Bank Center.
Last year’s ROY had a triple-double which included a career high 40 points. He had 12 points along with 12 rebounds to complete his second career triple-double. The second year guard was 15-19 from the field and 3-5 from three with three steals. It was a complete night for the kid.
Joins David Robinson
Castle joins Hall of Famer David Robinson as the only Spurs in franchise history with a 40-point triple-double.
Devin Vassell had 17 points and V-Dub added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Silver and Black, which set a season high for points in a half with 81 before halftime.
Klay Thompson paced the Mavericks with 19 points in 19 minutes off the bench. Brandon Williams added 18 points while the Mavs got 17 from Max Christie. This year’s ROY front runner Cooper Flagg finished with 14 points in a losing effort.
All-Star Weekend
The Spurs (36-16) won their fourth straight and ninth in 12 games to remain second in the Western Conference. They trail the Thunder by just 3.5 games as they head into All-Star Weekend.
The Spurs will not play in the Frost Bank Center again until March 5 as they prepare for their annual Rodeo Road Trip. The Spurs will play two games in Austin during that road trip that are considered home games.
