Evacuation Order Issued as Crews Battle Large Brush Fire
Firefighters are responding to a grass fire on the Southeast Side. The fire was reported near Interstate 37 and Southton Road, just south of Loop 410.
Roads Impacted by Evacuation Zone
According to Bexar County spokesperson Isaac Neri, the evacuation zone includes Southton Road, Donop Road, Streich Road, and Old Corpus Christi Road. Highway 181 may also be closed as the fire moves across the area.
East Central ISD Office Evacuated and Braunig Lake Also Affected
Reports indicate that the Braunig Lake area is also being impacted by the fire.
East Central ISD confirmed that the fire is near the former Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC), which now serves as office space for Child Nutrition staff and other departments. No students are housed at the facility, and staff have been evacuated as a precaution.
