Man Involved In Jan. 6 Riot Arrested w/ Weapons Heading Towards Obama’s House

A man who participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection was arrested after running towards Barack Obamas‘ home in Washington, D.C..

Secret Service spotted 37-year-old Taylor Taranto within blocks of the Obamas’ home. The suspect was running toward the Obamas‘ home, but was quickly apprehended. Taranto’s van was parked near the home and contained several guns and materials to make some kind of explosive device, however it had not been assembled according to law enforcement officials.

Taylor Taranto had an open warrant for his involvement in the Jan. 6 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol. According to reports, Taranto “directly aided, abetted and encouraged” the attack on Metropolitan Police officer Jeffrey Smith during the insurrection.

Taranto recently made threats during a livestream on social media against Barack Obama. He also reposted a Truth Social post from former President Donald Trump that allegedly included Obama’s home address.

According to law enforcement, Taranto had been in the Washington, D.C., area for a couple of months. He was spotted camping out in his van near the D.C. jail where many of the Jan. 6 defendants are being held.

He’s now been charged with being a fugitive from justice.

It’s unclear if the Obamas were home at the time of the incident.
